Varieties of varieties

How to preserve cut hydrangea longer at home?

To preserve a bouquet of hydrangeas, just follow a few simple recommendations:

  • To begin, trim the stem with a sharp knife by about 2 cm at an angle of 45 degrees. And in the case of water-loving hydrangea, the stem must also be carefully split lengthwise to increase the area for moisture absorption.
  • Tear off the lower leaves from the stem to prevent the possibility of rotting; you can leave only a little greenery near the inflorescence.
  • Fill the vase with cool water so that when the bouquet is immersed in it, the water comes to the very edge.
  • Add universal flower food Krizal to the water. For hydrangea, as for all flowers, the water must be changed daily and, of course, the vase must be washed with an antibacterial agent.

Awakening

In order for cut hydrangea to bloom and smell, it must be “awakened”, that is, saturated with moisture. In some sources, the method of revival is called the immersion method. It consists in immersing the cut flower completely in a container of water, for example a basin. At the same time, keep in mind that not only the stem, but also the inflorescence should be in the water. So, within 2-3 hours, the hydrangea should be saturated with moisture, and then it should be taken out of the basin and returned to the vase.

Reanimation

If you don’t pay enough attention to the hydrangea, it begins to fade. As a rule, this occurs either due to bacterial infection, unsuitable air temperature, or due to the flower drying out. Changing the water, rinsing the vase with an antibacterial agent, and trimming the stems help prevent infections. But a plant that begins to dry out due to lack of moisture needs resuscitation.

For a radical restoration method, you will need a container with thick glass. You will need to pour boiling water into it, into which you will then lower the flower stems. But before diving, don’t forget to trim them again.

In this way you will preserve a bouquet of hydrangea for a long time and it will delight you with its splendor.
