Hydrangeas are shrubs with beautiful spherical inflorescences consisting of many small flowers surrounded by large petals. Among them you can find a variety of shapes and colors, hydrangea has become a symbol of sophistication and beauty in the world of plants. Its peculiarity is the ability to change color depending on the acidity of the soil in which they grow. This makes the plants even more interesting and mysterious, as they can be white, pink, blue, purple or even green.

Varieties of varieties

Vanille Fraise

This is a striking variety of hydrangea, which is famous for its unusual flower colors. They begin their journey with white inflorescences, but as they bloom they acquire a soft pink hue, reminiscent of vanilla ice cream. This coloring process creates a unique spectacle where flowers of different colors can be seen on a bush at the same time. Hydrangea vanilla Fries is the true embodiment of tenderness and uniqueness.

Samara Lydia

This is another amazing variety. Hydrangea Samara Lydia has small, beautifully wrinkled leaves and large inflorescences consisting of delicate pink flowers. Flowering begins in July and continues until early autumn.

Hydrangea paniculata

This is a variety that is distinguished by its exquisite shape of inflorescences. They look like huge cones consisting of many small flowers. It can come in different shades, including white, pink, cream and even green. Often used to create stunning cut bouquets.

Strawberry Blossom

The Strawberry Blossom hydrangea is famous for its blooms, which start with cream-colored flowers and gradually change to soft pink shades, reminiscent of ripe strawberries. These hydrangeas add delicacy and romance to bouquets, making them ideal for special occasions such as weddings and anniversaries.

Polistar

Hydrangea Polystar has elegant inflorescences that can change color from pink to lilac and even blue depending on the pH of the soil. Such flowers fit perfectly into various styles of garden design and always attract attention with their bright beauty.

How to preserve cut hydrangea longer at home?

To preserve a bouquet of hydrangeas, just follow a few simple recommendations:

  • To begin, trim the stem with a sharp knife by about 2 cm at an angle of 45 degrees. And in the case of water-loving hydrangea, the stem must also be carefully split lengthwise to increase the area for moisture absorption.
  • Tear off the lower leaves from the stem to prevent the possibility of rotting; you can leave only a little greenery near the inflorescence.
  • Fill the vase with cool water so that when the bouquet is immersed in it, the water comes to the very edge.
  • Add universal flower food Krizal to the water. For hydrangea, as for all flowers, the water must be changed daily and, of course, the vase must be washed with an antibacterial agent.

Awakening

In order for cut hydrangea to bloom and smell, it must be “awakened”, that is, saturated with moisture. In some sources, the method of revival is called the immersion method. It consists in immersing the cut flower completely in a container of water, for example a basin. At the same time, keep in mind that not only the stem, but also the inflorescence should be in the water. So, within 2-3 hours, the hydrangea should be saturated with moisture, and then it should be taken out of the basin and returned to the vase.

Reanimation

If you don’t pay enough attention to the hydrangea, it begins to fade. As a rule, this occurs either due to bacterial infection, unsuitable air temperature, or due to the flower drying out. Changing the water, rinsing the vase with an antibacterial agent, and trimming the stems help prevent infections. But a plant that begins to dry out due to lack of moisture needs resuscitation.

For a radical restoration method, you will need a container with thick glass. You will need to pour boiling water into it, into which you will then lower the flower stems. But before diving, don’t forget to trim them again.

In this way you will preserve a bouquet of hydrangea for a long time and it will delight you with its splendor.
